Marketplace Rules
Effective 15 August 2026 · Last updated 15 August 2026
The everyday rules of the marketplace: honest listings, genuine wants, respectful conduct, verification requirements and how enforcement works.
1. Listings must be honest
List only items you own or lawfully possess. Describe condition accurately — including defects, damage, age and provenance — and use photos that genuinely show the actual item. Do not use stock images, other people's photos, or photos that misrepresent what you are offering. If an item is a replica or modified, say so clearly. Misleading listings are removed and may lead to account action.
2. Wants must be genuine
Create wants only for things you genuinely seek. Do not create wants to manipulate recommendations, matching or other users' behaviour.
3. Offers and swaps
Only make offers you intend to honour. Once an offer is accepted, complete the swap on the agreed terms — the agreed items, the agreed cash adjustment (if any), and the agreed method (pickup or shipping). Do not use offers to gather information, waste others' time or test the platform. If you cannot complete a swap you accepted, tell the other participant immediately and in good faith.
4. Respectful communication
Communicate respectfully in messages, listings, reviews and reports. Harassment, threats, abuse, discrimination, stalking and doxxing are prohibited and may be reported to relevant authorities where appropriate. Do not send unsolicited marketing or repeated unwanted messages.
5. Stay on the platform
Keep offers, negotiation and completion on Swaptico so both sides have the protection of our records and dispute process. Do not solicit off-platform payments, or share contact details to bypass the platform's protections. Off-platform contact that attempts to avoid fees, verification or safety controls is treated as abuse.
6. Delivery and pickup
Agree the method, timing and responsibility for delivery before the swap completes. If shipping, use a method with tracking where possible and keep the proof. Deliver what was agreed, on time, in the agreed condition. Do not claim delivery you did not make.
7. Verification and documentation
Some categories require verification and documentation before a transaction can proceed: vehicles (identity, ownership, vehicle history, finance/lien clearance), property (identity, ownership, jurisdiction checks, professional review, contract stage) and high-value items (identity verification above the configured thresholds). Where a category requires documentation, provide genuine, current documents when asked. Never fabricate or reuse documents. Transactions requiring verification stay pending until the checks are completed by a human reviewer.
8. Prohibited manipulation
Do not manipulate the marketplace: no duplicate accounts, no collusion to inflate or deflate value or reviews, no review or rating manipulation, no reward or referral farming, no fake offers, no bait-and-switch, no listing an item you have no intention of swapping, and no attempts to evade a restriction, suspension or ban. See the Fraud & Abuse Policy for the full list.
9. Reporting
Report listings, messages or behaviour that breach these rules using the report option on the item, message or profile. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. Do not file reports to harass, retaliate or abuse the system — misuse of reporting is itself a breach of these rules.
10. Enforcement
Breaches of these rules may result in: removal of listings or wants, cancellation of transactions, warnings, temporary restrictions, suspension or permanent ban, preservation of evidence, and reporting to relevant authorities where legally required or appropriate. Enforcement decisions are made by our moderation team after review, and a single weak or ambiguous signal is never treated as proof of a breach. You can appeal any decision as described in the Fraud & Abuse Policy.
